Loss and Grief Seminar Held

Hosted by Istanbul Aydın University, the “Loss and Grief Seminar” was held in collaboration with the Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation and the Küçükçekmece District Directorate of National Education, with the participation of teachers working in schools affiliated with the Küçükçekmece District Directorate of National Education.

The seminar took place on 24 December 2025 (Wednesday) at the T Block Turquoise Hall of Istanbul Aydın University. The event focused on the psychological dimensions of loss and grief, emotional responses experienced during grieving processes, and the supportive roles teachers can assume within educational settings.

The seminar featured Assoc. Prof. Hadiye Küçükkaragöz and Lecturer Dilek Özyürek as speakers. Through theoretical insights and practice-oriented examples, the speakers aimed to enhance teachers’ awareness and competencies in supporting children and individuals experiencing loss and grief.

With active participation from attendees, the seminar was enriched by a question-and-answer session and experience sharing. The program contributed to strengthening school-based psychosocial support practices and represented an important step toward promoting sensitive and inclusive approaches within educational environments.
