Awareness Conference 2

The third of the “Awareness Conferences” series, organized by the Istanbul Aydın University Inclusive Living Research and Application Center‘s Special Education Department and the Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV), was held on December 22nd at the T Block Conference Hall.

During the conference, which was attended by Psychologist Nilüfer Sena Gül, Psychologist Ecem Aygün Ercan, and Dr. Faculty Member Murat Balcı, participants were informed about “Communication with Children – Interpreting Children’s Drawings and Children’s Body Language”.

In addition to the students, the conference attracted significant interest from academics as well. After the presentations by Psychologist Nilüfer Sena Gül, Psychologist Ecem Aygün Ercan, and Dr. Faculty Member Murat Balcı, the conference continued with a Q&A session and concluded with the presentation of plaques and certificates of appreciation.

Removing Barriers in Communication!

The seminar titled “We Remove Barriers in Communication” was held by the Faculty of Education at Istanbul Aydın University, Inclusive Living Research and Application Center, and Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation in collaboration.

During the seminar, which saw significant participation, the President of the Federation of the Hearing Impaired, Muammer Ay, stated that there are 4.5 million hearing-impaired individuals in Turkey and that the number of people who know sign language is very low. He emphasized the need for significant steps to be taken in order to promote the widespread use of sign language.

In-Service Training Program for Employees

“In-Service Training Program for Employees”, which lasted for four days between March 29 and April 1, 2021, for the personnel of Küçükçekmece Municipality Directorate of Social Assistance Affairs, was carried out under the leadership of Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) in cooperation with Istanbul Aydın University and Küçükçekmece Municipality.
“Conflict Management in Interpersonal Communication, Corporate Identity, Effective Communication and Negotiation Techniques, Effective Presentation Techniques” were discussed in the face-to-face training program held at Florya Halit Aydın Campus.
The interactive training was attended by the academic staff of Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hale Torun, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma Nazlı Köksal, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Cebrail Sadakaoğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Begüm Aylin Önder conducted the training. At the end of the four-day in-service training program organized for employees, AKEV Vice Chairwoman Elif Aydın and Istanbul Aydın University Vice Rector Mehmet Reşat Başar presented certificates of participation to the participants.

CV Preparation, Interview Techniques and Entrepreneurship Seminar

The seminar program on “CV Preparation, Interview Techniques and Entrepreneurship” was organized by Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation in cooperation with Aydın University and SecretCV.
SecretCV General Manager Okan Tütüncü was the speaker at the seminar, where young people were informed about different interview techniques that can be performed during the recruitment process. Tütüncü explained the tricks of preparing a resume, which is the first step of the recruitment process, and made detailed explanations about the resume preparation process with the right examples. Information was also given about the expectations of the business world from new graduates and the ongoing studies and methodologies in human resources management, as well as explanations on different attitudes and approaches regarding the invitation and participation processes in the interview.

Leadership and Local Governance Conference

“Leadership and Local Governance” conference was organized by Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation in cooperation with Istanbul Aydın University.
Prof. Dr. Richard Callahan was the keynote speaker at the conference, where he mainly talked about the definition of local government leadership, how a strong local leader should be, leadership practice and leadership skills. Callahan explained that local governments shape our lives and emphasized that local governments should be given serious importance. Callahan stated that the most important condition for the strengthening of local governments is a strong leader.

Violence Prevention and Action Mitigation

A conference on “Preventing and Reducing Violence” was organized by Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation in cooperation with Istanbul Aydın University at Florya Halit Aydın Campus with the participation of Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education Mr. Ata Özer. During the conference, it was emphasized that violence in Turkey starts in the family and that the solution lies in love.
Mr. Özer, Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education, pointed out that Turkey has two main problems in education and stated that we are behind Europe in pre-school education and vocational education.

I. Civil Society Organizations Fair

Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation was organized in cooperation with Istanbul Aydın University in order to contribute to the cultural and social development of young people and to enable them to meet with non-governmental organizations operating in their fields of interest.
Non-governmental organizations participated in the fair organization with stands and presentation activities. On Wednesday, April 29, 2009, the famous artist Mehmet Ali Alabora shared his experiences with young people at a conference entitled “Civil Society in Life”. On April 30, 2009, the panel “Problems Identified by Youth and Solutions Implemented” was held. Yörük Kurtaran, Youth Studies Unit Manager at Bilgi University, Yusuf Güven, General Manager of the Community Volunteers Foundation, and Saruhan Tan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Young Executives and Businessmen’s Association participated in the panel.

Leadership, the Greatest Challenge of the Century Conference

TRNC Founding President Rauf Denktaş delivered a speech on “Leadership: The Greatest Requirement of Our Century” in cooperation with Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation and Istanbul Aydın University. In his speech, Denktaş touched upon the theories of leadership in both personal and national terms and explained that conditions create leaders through the examples of his leadership story.
Stating that leaders should have a vision, Denktaş stated that in order to develop a vision, it is necessary to be able to see both the present and the future well. Denktaş also touched upon the countries that are accepted as leaders in the international environment and said that the behavior of leading countries may not always be on the side of the righteous, as in the case of Cyprus.

Career Fair

The Career Fair, organized by the Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation in cooperation with Istanbul Aydın University, brought together the leading companies of the private sector and young people at Istanbul Aydın University Florya Halit Aydın Campus.
In this important activity, where young people had the opportunity to make career planning for the future, meet with professionals of the business world and apply for jobs and internships, participating companies had the opportunity to introduce themselves to young people and reach the educated workforce they need.

Human Resources and Interview Techniques Seminar

The seminar program on “Human Resources and Interview Techniques” was organized by Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) in cooperation with Aydın University and Hürriyet Human Resources Solution Partnership. Hürriyet HR Director Ms. Mr. Sancak Basa, Hürriyet HR Director, was the speaker at the seminar, where young people were informed about different interview techniques that can be used during the recruitment process. Ms. Sancak Basa also gave information about herself. Mr. Sancak Basa talked about the mission, vision and principles of Hürriyet Newspaper. She shared examples of Hürriyet’s human resources management with young people.

Interview Techniques Seminar

A seminar on “Interview Techniques” was organized by the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) in cooperation with Istanbul Aydın University. In this seminar, young people were informed about different interview techniques that can be used in the recruitment process.
Information about the expectations of the business world from new graduates and the ongoing studies and methodologies in human resources management were also given and the issues to be considered in interviews with employers were emphasized.

Advanced Sales Techniques and Effective Communication in Sales Seminar

A seminar program on “Advanced Sales Techniques and Effective Communication in Sales” was organized by the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) in cooperation with Istanbul Aydın University.
In this seminar, young people were informed about marketing and sales techniques. In the seminar, where the change process in sales and marketing behaviors in today’s conditions was explained, it was stated that sales behaviors and marketing approaches focused solely on their own interests and characteristics have already taken their place in the dusty pages of history.
Today, it was emphasized that only people and institutions that understand their customers, care about their psychological characteristics, respect their purchasing behaviors and characteristics, integrate professional sales behavior with the new marketing approach and aim to provide excellent service can survive. Within the framework of the participants’ realization and development of this process, the seminar was examined under main headings such as the changing sides of today’s sales and marketing behaviors, holistic models in marketing and sales understanding, development of customer-oriented management approach, customer orientation and effective customer communication.

Effective Communication and Body Language Seminar

The “Effective Communication and Body Language” seminar program was organized in cooperation with the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) and Istanbul Aydın University. The seminar, which was programmed as an activity to support personal development, attracted great participation and interest from young people. In the seminar program, information was given on the definition and rationale of communication, and detailed explanations were given on body language, effective communication and listening.

Panel on Lead Managers and Transfer Policies

Organized jointly by the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) and Istanbul Aydın University, the panel on “Leading Managers and Transfer Policies” was held at Aydın University Halit Aydın Florya Campus.
The panel was attended by Ali Şen, Former President of Fenerbahçe Club, Mehmet Cansun, Former President of Galatasaray Club, Ayhan Bermek, Former National Teams Manager and Mesut Parlak, Former Rector of Istanbul University and Beşiktaş Congress Member.
In the panel, different approaches were brought to the current football transfers and the concepts of leader manager in general from the football sector in particular.

Establishment of Istanbul Aydın University

The establishment of Istanbul Aydın University was completed and a proposal was submitted to the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education. This proposal was approved by the General Assembly of the Council of Higher Education and Istanbul Aydın University was established and became a legal entity with the law numbered 5656 Annex-73 published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2007 and numbered 26526, following the necessary legal procedure.

Panel on the Importance of Foundation Vocational Schools and Universities

Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV), in cooperation with Istanbul Aydın University and Anadolu Bil Vocational School, organized a panel discussion on “The Importance of Foundation Vocational Schools and Universities in Turkey”. The conference was opened by Dr. Mustafa Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AKEV, and was well attended from the educational, business, media and academic communities.

The panel emphasized that universities are institutions that transform knowledge and technology into social benefit and that universities will enlighten society in the 21st century not only with knowledge and technology, but also with the principles of law, common heritage, environment, culture, artworks, protectionism and sustainable development. It was emphasized that all universities, whether public or foundation universities, are the main source of knowledge, which is the greatest capital. Higher education institutions, which are the sine qua non of social leadership, are reported to undertake the task of creating Turkey’s bright future as well as national consciousness, modernity and depth of thought.

In addition to the existence of the necessary conditions for education in Turkey, it has been stated that there is no clear education strategy, and that the opening of foundation vocational schools is of particular importance for this reason. In our country, which has a very young population, the number of students taking the university exams increases every year, and in order to prevent hundreds of thousands of students from failing these exams and being disconnected from production, foundation universities and foundation

Teachers’ Day Events

The Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) organized traditional ceremonies for “Teachers’ Day” activities. Within the scope of these activities, various events such as seminars and panels were organized to share the common problems of educators and the sector. A book donation campaign organized by Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation in cooperation with Anadolu Bil Vocational School was held. With this activity, which ensures the delivery of educational and cultural publications to underprivileged village schools, an effort was made to contribute to equal opportunity in education.

Scientific Meetings

The scientific meetings organized by the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) in cooperation with Istanbul Aydin University were organized on different themes.
These scientific meetings were moderated by Prof. Dr. Candan Varlık and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Cikrıkçı. These meetings contributed to informing young people about current developments in the world of science and developing their scientific thinking. Within the scope of scientific meeting activities, 20 meetings were organized until the end of 2010. “How Prepared Are We for an Earthquake?” The panel discussion was organized in coordination with the Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) and Anadolu Bil Vocational School. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Mete Işıkara, Tekin Küçükali, Advisor to the Red Crescent Society, Recep Ülker, President of the Red Crescent Society and President of the International Blue Crescent Foundation, Necmi Ercin from the Istanbul Governorship Crisis Center, and Turhan Ayvaz, District Governor of Bahçelievler.

The opening speech was delivered by Dr. Mustafa Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AKEV, and the participants emphasized the importance of being ready for disaster management before a possible earthquake disaster. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Mete Işıkara underlined in his speech that 70% of the buildings in Istanbul are not prepared for a possible earthquake. Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation President Dr. Mustafa Aydın, Retired General Necdet Timur and ABMYO Director M. Salih Çelikkale presented a plaque of Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation to the panelists.

Press Conference

A press conference was held with Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) to emphasize the importance of vocational education and to share the contributions of Anadolu BİL Vocational School to the Turkish education system and the business world. Through this activity, an effort was made to contribute to raising public awareness on vocational education. In cooperation with the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV), Anadolu BİL Vocational School and BİL Educational Institutions, a seminar on “Methods of Coping with Exam Stress” was organized.
These seminars were organized under basic topics such as coping with exam stress for young people in high schools and equivalent schools preparing for university entrance exams, and the duties of parents in achieving exam success. Through this activity, efforts were made to support the exam success of thousands of young people.

Place and Importance of Vocational Education in Turkey

It was organized in cooperation with Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) and Anadolu BİL Vocational School. In this conference, participants from vocational education and business world made presentations and opinions on vocational qualification and employment-targeted vocational education. The importance of the organization of vocational education in line with the needs of the business world in Turkey to eliminate the qualified workforce deficit was emphasized. One of the main issues emphasized at the conference was the need to strengthen the cooperation between education and the business world.
The conference was opened by Dr. Mustafa Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AKEV, and was well attended by business, press and academic circles.

Anadolu Bil Vocational School Promotion Night Activities

Introductory nights were held regarding the start of education of Anadolu BİL Vocational School, which was established by Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) and is the first foundation vocational school in Turkey approved by the Council of Higher Education. It provided information about the 11 educational programs of Anadolu BİL Vocational School, job opportunities provided to young people after education and solution partnerships in this regard. In these introductory night events, institutions that will be among the solution partners of Anadolu BİL Vocational School in order to create job opportunities after education, young people and education stakeholders were brought together.

In addition to the leading representatives of the education community, Mayors and District Governors, solution partners Ulusoy, The Green Park, Dedeman Hotels, American Hospital, RODER, BİL HOLDING, Turkish Heart Foundation, TÖDER, SSV, UFRAD, Acıbadem Hospital, BOĞAZİÇİ Health, Association of Those Fighting Against Smoking, Tercüman Newspaper, MMC TV, İstanbul TV, ARAS Cargo etc. Representatives of leading and well-established organizations in their fields and solution partners in the press field attended.

Education and Professions of the Future in the European Union

It is a panel activity that was held in the history of Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) and Anadolu BİL Vocational School. It started with the opening speech of Anadolu BİL Vocational School Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Mustafa Aydın and continued under the management of Anadolu BİL Vocational School Board of Trustees Chairman Advisor Prof. Dr. C. Ruhi Kaykayoğlu. The panel was held with the participation of; Istanbul National Education Director Ömer Balıbey, Turkish Employment Agency General Manager Necdet Kaner, Leonarda da Vinci General Coordinator İbrahim Demirer, Haliç University Faculty Member and Future Professions Book Author Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman Özsoy, MICROSOFT Academic Advisor Nuri Çankaya, Prometheus Management Consultancy General Manager Yücel Atış. The panel event was held with the participation of many young people. Following the panel, a talk titled “How Should Young People Educate Themselves?” was held by Şişli Mayor Mustafa Sarıgül. The program ended with the Career Workshop event organized by Anadolu BİL Vocational School BİL Public Career Center. In this event, students benefited from free Career test opportunities.

Career Choices Conference

In secondary education institutions, a series of conferences were implemented to contribute to the career and occupation choices of young people in university preparation groups, high schools and equivalent schools. In these activities, cooperation was made with BİL Educational Institutions. With the Career Choices conferences, efforts were made to prepare young people for a career life where they can be successful and to contribute to making conscious career choices. Thousands of young people participated in these activities carried out by AKEV. Free ÖSS Trial Exam Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation, in cooperation with Bil Dershaneleri, implemented free ÖSS trial exams for high school and equivalent students. The aim was to contribute to the success of students in the exams in transition to higher education through these free exams. Thousands of students benefited from this activity. With the exam activity carried out via internet, it was possible for students from every province to participate.

Guidance Seminars

A series of seminars titled “Pre-exam motivation and final preparations” were organized in cooperation with Bil Dershaneleri for students preparing for university entrance exams in Ankara, Kayseri, Konya and Kemer.

Advanced Sales Techniques and Effective Communication in Sales

The seminar program titled “Advanced Sales Techniques and Effective Communication in Sales” organized by the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) was held at the Foundation Center. In the seminar, information was given to young people about marketing and sales techniques. Book Aid Campaign

The Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) and BİL Dershaneleri organized an aid campaign for many primary schools in Anatolia. Thousands of educational publications were distributed through this social responsibility project, which was carried out by delivering educational publications to schools and students with limited means. The participation and contributions of volunteer young people to the project, which was carried out under the coordination of the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation, were significant. Packages consisting of books, publications, subject explanations and test books were also sent to village schools in need in Anatolia.

Effective Communication, Presentation Techniques and Body Language

The “Effective Communication and Body Language” seminar program organized by the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) was held at the Foundation Center. The seminar, which was planned as an activity to support the personal development of young people, saw high levels of participation from young people. In the seminar program, information was provided about the definition and techniques of communication, and detailed explanations were made regarding the development of skills in body language, effective communication and listening.
