SUPPORT FOR THE EARTHQUAKE ZONE: MATH AND EDUCATION FESTIVAL

With the support of Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation, Istanbul Aydın University Elementary Mathematics Education and Fashion Design Department students organized a two-week Math Festival for earthquake-stricken children at IAU Nurdağı Education and Life Campus.

This festival was designed to enable children to learn mathematics in a fun and interactive way. Throughout the activities, children’s problem-solving skills, analytical thinking abilities and their tendency towards teamwork were supported by using game-based learning methods. Within the scope of the festival, children participated in Fraction Race, Find Me, Fraction Adventure, How Much Pizza Did I Eat – How Much Candy Did I Eat, Sort Me, Fraction Addition Bingo, Decimal Boxes, Let’s Match, Balanced Matching, The children played various mathematical games such as Decimal Numbers Dominoes, Decimal Tower, Mathematical Duel, Hımbıl, Make Your Number, Matdal, Tomatik, Let’s See, Find a Match, 4-piece Puzzle, Mat-Bum, Who’s the Monkey, and Competitive Rivalry.

In addition, workshops such as mathematical competitions, sudoku exercises, origami exercises, puzzle and lego exercises, and code-finding games were organized at the festival. Thanks to these activities, children had the opportunity to develop their mathematical thinking skills and had a fun learning experience.
