ACADEMIC WORK PROGRAM WITH SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS – 2023

The Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation, in line with its commitment to equal opportunities and inclusivity in education, partnered with Istanbul Aydin University to host a unique experience for special needs students. Under the name ‘Academic Work Program with Special Education Students,’ this special collaboration encompassed group activities in movement, music, sports, and gastronomy that took place on campus over the course of 4 weeks, for 3 days a week. Through this special event, students had the opportunity to discover their talents, acquire new skills, and strengthen their social bonds.

This program, held at Istanbul Aydin University’s modern campuses, aimed not only to contribute to students’ academic achievements but also to help them undergo inner transformations and embrace a values-driven life. Over the course of three days a week, students engaged in physical activities and sports under the guidance of academicians, allowing them to enhance their physical abilities. Simultaneously, they boosted their self-confidence while unleashing their creativity in music and gastronomy workshops.

The group activities in movement, music, sports, and gastronomy conducted with special needs students not only made their learning processes more enjoyable but also provided an opportunity for them to discover and develop their own talents. The intimate environment created during the program strengthened students’ communication with each other, university students, and academicians, promoting increased social awareness and fostering an inclusive educational atmosphere.

However, not only students, but also the essential stakeholders of education, parents, were not forgotten in this program. Parents had the opportunity to contribute to their own education through special education-themed classes held in various classrooms. Thanks to this special arrangement, parents were able to establish a better understanding and connection with their children, actively participating in their educational journeys.

The program concluded with a joyful graduation ceremony, attended by students and parents alike.
