ACADEMIC STUDY PROGRAM WITH SPECIAL EDUCATION CHILDREN – 2022 SPECIAL EDUCATION FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN

Istanbul Aydin University (IAU), in collaboration with the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) and Bağcılar Municipality, organized the “Academic Study Program with Special Education Children.” This program, hosted by IAU, targeted children with Down syndrome and provided them with four weeks of training in sports, music, and gastronomy under the guidance of expert academicians.

The educational program aimed to facilitate the socialization of individuals with special needs, encouraging them to collaborate and help each other through training in different areas. Throughout the program, special children worked together with instructors in the kitchen of the Faculty of Fine Arts Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department to prepare dishes like pizza, waffles, and cookies. In music lessons, under the supervision of faculty members from the Faculty of Education’s Music Teaching Department, the children sang songs and danced. They also participated in various activities in the indoor sports hall at IAU under the supervision of academicians during sports lessons.
