MIT PKG Fellowship Awarded to AKEV Partner Project Led by Chairwoman Fatma Nur Aydın
The project titled “Digital Boundaries for Children: Expanding the Boundaries Education Project”, developed by Fatma Nur Aydın, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of Cyprus Aydın University, and implemented in partnership with the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV), has been selected for support through the MIT PKG Fellowship Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Building upon AKEV’s pioneering Boundaries Education Project, one of the first initiatives of its kind in Türkiye, the project aims to help children navigate the digital world safely, responsibly, and confidently. The newly developed Digital Boundaries Module will extend the existing curriculum by addressing key topics such as digital privacy, safe information sharing, cyberbullying awareness, digital consent, healthy screen use, and responsible online behavior.
Designed for primary school students, the project will also provide educational resources and guidance for teachers and parents, recognizing the important role families and educators play in supporting children’s digital well-being.
Through the collaboration of AKEV, academic experts, and educational stakeholders, the project seeks to equip children with the knowledge and skills needed to establish healthy boundaries in both physical and digital environments. Following its initial implementation in Istanbul, the project aims to expand its reach through partnerships with municipalities, schools, and civil society organizations across Türkiye.
Receiving support from the MIT PKG Fellowship Program represents an important international recognition of the project’s innovative approach and social impact. The achievement highlights the commitment of Fatma Nur Aydın and AKEV to developing forward-looking educational initiatives that address the evolving needs of children in an increasingly digital world.
We congratulate Ms. Fatma Nur Aydın and all project partners on this significant accomplishment and look forward to the positive impact the project will create for children, families, and communities.
