BOOK: Beyond the Visible (The Refugee Who Tells Himself) Interview on the Problems of the Book

Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) Faculty of Communication, Department of Advertising, Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV), Refugee Council of Turkey (TMK), Küçükçekmece Municipality and Ümit İnatçı Art Center collaborated on the visual culture and representation project titled “Beyond the Visible: Refugee Narrating Himself” visual culture and representation project realized in cooperation with AKEV (AKEV), Refugee Council of Turkey (TMK), Küçükçekmece Municipality and Ümit İnatçı Art Center.

On October 19, 2022 at 17:00, hosted by ADASANAT and moderated by F. Nazlı Köksal, Ümit İnatçı and Emre Zeytinoğlu shared their views on the project and the book. In the interview, which took place with the participation of many non-governmental organizations and municipalities interested in migration and refugee issues, one of the most discussed phenomena of recent years, the authors answered questions from the participants.

Designed for students who have migrated/forced to migrate for different reasons and continue their lives within the borders of Turkey, the book tells through photographs how refugee children who are going through the process of personality building perceive themselves, their families and their environment in their new living conditions and what their expectations from social life are. The study, in which the phenomenon of migration is presented from the perspective of the migrant or refugee, aims to shed light on similar projects to be carried out in the future.
